Adh Dhahiriya Municipality Participates in the "Shamsi Palestine" Workshop for the Transition to Renewable Energy
Adh Dhahiriya Municipality participated in the expanded workshop of the "Shamsi Palestine" program, organized by the Ministry of Local Government in partnership with the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, under the directives of the Prime Minister, and attended by local authorities benefiting from the program.
The Municipality's delegation included Mayor Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaisa, Municipal Council Member Mrs. Areej Al-Tall, members of the municipality’s technical and financial teams, and Eng. Alaa Halayqa, representing the Southern Electricity Company (SELCO).
The workshop aimed to discuss the implementation mechanisms of the program, which seeks to support local authorities in adopting renewable energy solutions. The initiative is expected to reduce electricity expenses, strengthen the financial sustainability of municipalities, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
Earlier, Eng. Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, announced the selection of 10 local authorities to benefit from the current phase of the program, including Adh Dhahiriya Municipality. Efforts are also underway to complete the inclusion of 12 additional local authorities, with the goal of reaching 80 local authorities by 2030.
Mayor Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaisa expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chairman of the Energy Authority, the Minister of Local Government, and the "Shamsi Palestine" program team for their confidence in selecting Adh Dhahiriya Municipality as one of the program beneficiaries. He emphasized the municipality’s commitment to ensuring the success of this vital project for the benefit of the city's residents and to support sustainable development efforts.
Representatives of the municipality also participated in specialized technical and financial sessions with partner organizations and project consultants to discuss implementation procedures and project requirements related to Adh Dhahiriya Municipality, ensuring the project's success and the achievement of its objectives according to the highest professional standards.
