Al-Dhahiriya Municipality

Al-Dhahiriya Municipality was originally established in 1963. In 1997, the Al-Dhahiriya Village Council was upgraded to a municipality, and its first municipal council was formed.

 

The current municipal council consists of thirteen members, headed by Engineer Ali Abbas Al-Shabaan. Approximately 120 male and female employees work at Al-Dhahiriya Municipality across its various departments and divisions.

 

Al-Dhahiriya Municipality is classified as a Category (B) municipality by the Ministry of Local Government. According to the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) classification for 2025, it achieved a (B++) rating.

 

The municipality carries out its duties in accordance with the Local Authorities Law No. (1) of 1997. These responsibilities include road construction and paving, school construction, water service provision, solid waste collection, issuing building permits, licensing professions and industries, and implementing various development projects.
