Al-Dhahiriya Municipality Discusses Development Priorities and Infrastructure Projects with the Minister of Local Government
A delegation from Al-Dhahiriya Municipality, headed by Mayor Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaisa, met with the Minister of Local Government, Dr. Sami Hijjawi, at the Ministry's headquarters. The delegation included Municipal Council members Adeeb Wreidat, Areej Al-Tal, and Hala Abu Sharkh, Municipal Director Mr. Ahmad Qaisiya, Director of the Projects Unit Eng. Mohammad Abu Dbour, and Public Relations Officer Suleiman Abu Allan, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Local Government.
The meeting focused on discussing a number of priority development issues concerning the City of Al-Dhahiriya, with particular emphasis on infrastructure projects, road construction and rehabilitation, and the enhancement of essential public services.
During the meeting, the Mayor outlined the municipality's most pressing needs, stressing the importance of implementing strategic infrastructure projects that improve the quality of services provided to citizens and support the city's sustainable development. He also highlighted the municipality's comprehensive development plan, which aims to address the city's growing needs through well-planned investment projects.
The Mayor emphasized that Al-Dhahiriya requires additional support across various sectors due to its large geographical area and expanding urban development. He called for the allocation of new development projects, particularly in the field of road infrastructure, to improve connectivity and better serve residents throughout the municipality.
He further presented the municipality's plan to maximize the benefit of available funding opportunities, particularly the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) grant, which will be directed toward implementing priority development projects that enhance local services and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Local Government and the Ministry's staff for their continuous support of Al-Dhahiriya Municipality and their efforts to facilitate the implementation of municipal development projects.
For his part, Minister of Local Government Dr. Sami Hijjawi reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting local government units by providing vital development projects and following up on municipalities' needs within the available resources. He praised Al-Dhahiriya Municipality for its ongoing efforts in modernization and institutional development despite the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian people.
The meeting concluded with both sides emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to implement development projects that meet the city's priorities and improve the quality of municipal services.
