Al-Dhahiriya Municipality Discusses Agricultural Sector Needs and Sustainable Development Plans with the Minister of Agriculture
A delegation from Al-Dhahiriya Municipality, headed by Mayor Mr. Ali Abbas Al-Awaisa, met with the Minister of Agriculture, Professor Rizq Salimiya, at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters. The delegation included Municipal Council members Adeeb Wreidat, Areej Al-Tal, and Hala Abu Sharkh, Municipal Director Mr. Ahmad Qaisiya, Director of Projects Eng. Mohammad Abu Dbour, and Public Relations Officer Suleiman Abu Allan. The meeting was also attended by the Ministry's Undersecretary, Eng. Bader Al-Hawamdeh.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of the agricultural sector in Al-Dhahiriya and discussing ways to enhance its development, in addition to exploring a number of development projects aimed at strengthening farmers' resilience and improving agricultural services.
During the meeting, the Mayor presented the municipality's key priorities for the agricultural sector, emphasizing the need to implement strategic projects that support sustainable agricultural development and improve the utilization of natural resources. These priorities included constructing rainwater harvesting wells for agricultural purposes, land reclamation, opening and rehabilitating agricultural roads, building water storage tanks and modern irrigation networks, supporting livestock development projects, and implementing training and capacity-building programs for farmers to improve agricultural productivity and achieve sustainable development.
For his part, Minister of Agriculture Professor Rizq Salimiya reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in Al-Dhahiriya. He stressed the importance of preparing a comprehensive agricultural development plan that identifies the city's priorities, enabling these projects to be incorporated into the Ministry's future plans and programs, and ensuring the implementation of priority projects in line with available resources and funding opportunities.
The Minister also highlighted the Ministry's special attention to the livestock sector, recognizing it as one of the key pillars of the agricultural economy. He affirmed the Ministry's continued efforts to enhance services provided to farmers and livestock breeders and to support projects that contribute to the development of this vital sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Al-Dhahiriya Municipality to implement priority development projects, improve agricultural infrastructure, support farmers, and promote sustainable agricultural development that contributes to the city's economic and social growth.
