The project, with an estimated cost of approximately $1 million, aims to promote the use of renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional energy sources, contributing to environmental and economic sustainability in the city.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Al-Dhahiriya Municipality by the elected Mayor, Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Shabaan, along with the Municipality Director, Ahmad Qaisiya. This project comes as part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens.
The “Shamsi Palestine” program is a national initiative led by the Ministry of Local Government in partnership with several Palestinian ministries, with primary technical support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It aims to enable local authorities to invest in solar energy projects.
Al-Dhahiriya Municipality was selected to benefit from this program after successfully passing a comprehensive technical and financial assessment, making it one of 20 local authorities across the country chosen for this initiative.
