Water Authority Discusses Al-Dahrieh’s Needs and Pushes for Urgent and Strategic Solutions to the Water Crisis

Water Minister Dr. Ziad Al-Maimi held a meeting with Al-Dahrieh Municipality Mayor Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaiseh, attended by Municipality Director Ahmed Qaisiyah, Director of the Services Department Eng. Yasmeen Al-Kaaki, Public Relations Officer Suleiman Abu Allan, Director of the Water Authority in Hebron Governorate Eng. Issam Arman, and a number of specialists from the Palestinian Water Authority.

 

The meeting focused on the challenges facing the water sector in Al-Dahrieh and the needs of local residents, particularly the shortage in water quantities reaching the city compared with its allocated share. The shortage has resulted in differences in water supply levels between various areas of the city, directly affecting residents and their daily needs.

 

Dr. Al-Maimi confirmed that the Water Authority is working to establish a mechanism to address the shortage and organize water distribution, ensuring greater fairness in supply and improving access to water across different areas of Al-Dahrieh.

 

The meeting also discussed the Municipality’s needs regarding the water network, ways to improve its efficiency, and the necessary technical requirements to enhance the level of services provided to residents.

 

The water reservoir project in the Shweika area east of Al-Dahrieh was also discussed. The project is considered one of the important strategic water projects in southern Hebron Governorate and is expected to contribute to strengthening water resources, serving communities across the southern area, and helping alleviate the ongoing water crisis.

 

For his part, Mayor Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaiseh stressed the importance of accelerating efforts to address the water shortage affecting Al-Dahrieh and ensuring that residents receive their allocated water share, while continuing to pursue sustainable and strategic solutions that meet the city’s growing needs.

 

The Water Authority reaffirmed its continued coordination with Al-Dahrieh Municipality and its commitment to following up on the city’s needs and working jointly to achieve urgent and strategic solutions that improve water supply and strengthen water security in southern Hebron Governorate.
