Minister of Agriculture Visits Shweikeh Deir Shams and Affirms: We Will Strengthen Farmers’ Resilience and Provide Them with All Necessary Support

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Rizq Salimiyah visited the Shweikeh Deir Shams area in Al-Dahrieh to assess the situation on the ground and the impact of settler attacks targeting farmers and livestock breeders in the area, which resulted in the theft of large numbers of sheep.

 

The Minister was accompanied by Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin, Mayor of Al-Dahrieh Municipality Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaiseh, Mayor of As-Samu Municipality Khalil Abu Awad, Fatah South Hebron Region Secretary Kamal Jabareen, South Hebron Liaison Director Alaa Qatouf, and representatives of several ministries and institutions.

 

The delegation reviewed the situation in the area and listened to farmers and livestock breeders regarding the attacks, losses, and challenges they face in protecting their land, livestock, and livelihoods.

 

During the visit, the Minister of Agriculture affirmed that the Ministry would follow up on several important issues raised by farmers, particularly livestock tagging, registration, and documentation, which will help document ownership, monitor livestock, and strengthen farmers’ ability to protect their animals, especially in light of repeated thefts.

 

The Minister praised the community initiatives carried out by residents of Al-Dahrieh and As-Samu, who demonstrated remarkable solidarity by donating and providing sheep to farmers whose livestock had been stolen. He emphasized that such initiatives reflect the values and solidarity of the Palestinian people and their support for one another during difficult circumstances.

 

Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin also praised the steadfastness of the residents and the solidarity demonstrated by the people of Al-Dahrieh and As-Samu in supporting farmers, emphasizing that the difficult circumstances require greater cooperation and coordination among all official and community stakeholders.

 

The Mayors of Al-Dahrieh and As-Samu stressed the importance of continuing to support farmers and strengthen their resilience, while maintaining cooperation with official and community organizations to address their needs and protect their land and property.

 

The participants emphasized the importance of standing alongside farmers and livestock breeders, providing them with the necessary support, and strengthening their resilience on their land in light of the repeated attacks targeting their land, property, and livelihoods.
