Al-Dhahiriya – The city of Al-Dhahiriya welcomed a delegation that included several members of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, headed by Major General Majed Faraj, along with Dr. Ahmad Abu Houli and Adnan Ghaith, members of the Revolutionary Council, secretaries of the Fatah Movement’s regional branches in Hebron Governorate, and a number of Palestinian security officials.

The visit aimed to learn about the city’s current situation and stand alongside its residents amid the difficult circumstances they are facing.

The delegation was received by Mayor of Al-Dhahiriya Eng. Ali Abbas Al-Awaiseh, members of the municipal council, a large gathering of city residents, community representatives, and directors of official and civil institutions.

The Mayor welcomed the delegation, emphasizing that the leadership’s visit represents a message of support and solidarity for the people of Al-Dhahiriya, who have demonstrated resilience, dedication, and national commitment over many decades.

Al-Awaiseh presented an overview of the city’s economic, service-related, and national challenges, particularly in light of the escalating Israeli measures against the city. He referred to the installation of iron gates at the entrances to Al-Dhahiriya and the resulting isolation from its surrounding areas, which has directly affected commercial and economic activity and the daily lives of residents.

He stressed that despite these challenges and measures, Al-Dhahiriya will remain steadfast, committed to its land and national role, emphasizing the need to support the city, strengthen the resilience of its residents, and address its development and service needs.

The Mayor also highlighted the importance of Al-Dhahiriya Governmental Hospital, describing it as one of the city’s and southern Hebron Governorate’s most important strategic projects. He noted that completing and equipping the hospital would represent a significant improvement in healthcare services for tens of thousands of citizens and reduce the need to travel to hospitals in other cities.

For his part, Kamal Hassan Jabareen, Deputy Secretary of the Southern Hebron Fatah Regional Branch, praised Al-Dhahiriya and its people, emphasizing their longstanding presence at the forefront of national events and their prominent role throughout the Palestinian national struggle.

Jabareen also highlighted Al-Dhahiriya’s historic role in welcoming and honoring released Palestinian prisoners, affirming that the city will continue to stand as a home for prisoners and former prisoners and remain faithful to their sacrifices and struggle.

In his address to the people of Al-Dhahiriya, Fatah Central Committee member Major General Majed Faraj said:

“Al-Dhahiriya, you have written history at many important moments in the history of our Palestinian people, and Al-Dhahiriya will remain the gateway to the south and a home for prisoners.”

Faraj praised the resilience and steadfastness of the city’s residents in confronting difficult circumstances, emphasizing that Al-Dhahiriya represents a model of commitment to the land and national identity, and that the measures imposed against the city have failed to break the will of its people.

He called for greater unity, joint efforts, national solidarity, and stronger institutional work during the coming period, emphasizing the importance of supporting national institutions and strengthening their role and presence.

He also praised the role of the Palestinian security establishment in maintaining security, safety, and stability despite the significant obstacles and challenges it faces.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continued communication and coordination between the leadership, national institutions, Al-Dhahiriya Municipality, and the city’s community representatives, in order to strengthen citizens’ resilience and support the city’s needs and development projects.

Al-Dhahiriya… the gateway to the south, a city of resilience, and a home for prisoners—faithful to the sacrifices of our Palestinian people.
