Al-Dhahiriya International Stadium

Al-Dhahiriya International Stadium is considered one of the most prominent sports and development projects in the southern Hebron Governorate. It is located in the city of Al-Dhahiriya on an area of approximately 24 dunums. The foundation stone of the stadium was laid on March 17, 2012, by former Palestinian Prime Minister, as part of a national initiative aimed at supporting the sports and youth sectors and enabling Shabab Al-Dhahiriya Sports Club to own its own stadium in accordance with international standards approved by FIFA.

The stadium project is implemented in several phases. The first phase included the installation of natural grass turf covering approximately 8,030 square meters, construction of internal and external fencing, preparation of main entrances, and completion of essential infrastructure works. The cost of this phase amounted to approximately USD 1.25 million, funded by the Ministry of Local Government through Al-Dhahiriya Municipality. The total estimated cost of the subsequent phases is around USD 6 million, with efforts underway to secure the necessary funding following completion of the first phase.

The stadium is being developed in accordance with FIFA-approved international specifications. The playing field measures 68 × 105 meters. The project includes spectator stands on all four sides, as well as integrated sports and service facilities, ensuring the venue’s readiness to host official matches, training sessions, and various sporting events.

Construction works were awarded through an official tender process, while the Municipal Council approved the awarding of the stadium design contract to a specialized consulting firm. The project has been supervised directly by the Municipality’s leadership and Engineering Department, beginning with the preparation of engineering drawings and bills of quantities through to the commencement of construction.

The stadium represents a long-awaited dream for the supporters of Shabab Al-Dhahiriya Sports Club, whose fans have proudly raised the banner of the “Southern Gazelles” across national stadiums and look forward to hosting their team’s matches in the heart of the city. The project is expected to serve as a major boost to sports and youth life in Al-Dhahiriya, providing a multi-purpose facility that serves various community groups and contributes to strengthening sports and development infrastructure at the governorate level.
